Tentative itinerary
Fri July 11: hike 10mi, up 3600ft to Bruce's roost or cat basin with a possible swim in Heart Lake. Collect water at Heart Lake.
Sat. July 12: pre-dawn start. This will be a long day to summit Carrie, with exposed hiking to the Catwalk and start of our technical scramble. The Catwalk will take about 2hrs each way. After the Catwalk is a steep but easy meadow to a miserable sidehill scree slog, possibly with some snow, around a basin to the summit of Carrie. Then reverse, back to our camp by nightfall.
Sun: July 13: 10+mi out with a nice dip in Heart Lake.
July 11, 7:15am Sol Duc River TH. Possible to carpool from my place in Port Angeles.

- The Ten Essentials
- Helmet
- Mountaineering Boots
- Ice Axe
- Crampons or microspikes TBD.
- Possibly alpine or hasty harness, locking carabiners, prussiks (We'll have a rope, way to make anchor).
- Camping gear
- Group gear TBD (bear bag, water purification, 2 stoves, fuel, portable power, radios/communication devices)
- Bug spray and bug gear!!!
- Trekking poles
