  • Strenuous/Very Strenuous, Technical 2
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 18.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 5,300 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 9,826 ft

TBD. I strongly recommend traveling to the trailhead the day before and camping or otherwise spending the night in the area. For more information, click the "See full route/place details" link below.

All participants must be fully vaccinated for covid. If accepted, you will have to email me an image of your vaccination card (birthday blocked out if you wish). I will do so in return. Do not do so unless you are accepted.

This trip requires a long drive (approx. 8 hrs) each way and a great deal of planning. If you want to go and you are accepted, I expect a serious commitment; in other words, do not cancel unless you have an emergency situation. NOTE: I will cancel the trip due to inclement weather or wildfires in the area.

Matterhorn is not technically difficult.  However, participants MUST have backpacking experience. If you have not successfully completed a Mountaineers backpacking trip, please describe your experience when you request permission. No exceptions. This is a unique trip, and I want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable experience.
