Alpine Scramble - Granite Mountain Trail

Preference given to Olympia Branch Alpine Course graduates until May 30th. Great hike to alpine meadows and then a rock scramble to the summit. Rock climbing tips and route finding through the boulder field for students who request instruction.

  • Strenuous 3, Technical 2, Strenuous, Winter Scramble
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,800 ft
  • Pace: 2.0 to 2.5 mph

Meet at the Denny Creek trailhead off I 90 at 5:45  am.

Parking lot overflows if we are later than that.

Participants are to be booted up and ready to go at 6:00 am.

Trip goals: have fun, be safe, be inclusive, stay together.

Beginning students are welcome.

More experienced participants should be mindful that less experienced people can't rocket up the trail and may need some time to negotiate the (easy) boulder field.

Preference to Olympia Branch Scrambling Course until May 30th. All others will be waitlisted

I've been climbing a long time and more than willing to teach techniques to those who ask. Lunch or snacks at the fire lookout with awesome views (weather permitting). Trip will be canceled for serious inclement weather.
