Leadership Conference participants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19  to register and attend this in-person event.  Following The Mountaineers COVID-19 guidance, attendees must verify vaccination status following the Washington State Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination Status guidelines and masks will be required. Please find additional information about COVID-19 considerations listed below.

For over 100 years, The Mountaineers has enriched the outdoor community by helping thousands of people to explore, conserve, learn about, and enjoy the lands and waters of the Pacific Northwest and beyond. We take pride in that legacy, and we we want to honor our volunteer leaders who make it all happen!

This year we are excited to be hosting two smaller Leadership Conferences:  November 20 in Tacoma and December 4 in Seattle. The theme for this year's two conferences is Coming Together. We've heard your resounding  desire  to come together as a community. Community is one of The Mountaineers five core values, and we're excited to acknowledge your collective impact to our community.  This conference will offer a series of interactive sessions that explores the many facets of leadership, including: Equity & Inclusion, Risk Management, Group Facilitation & Instruction, and Conservation & Advocacy.

COVID-19 Considerations

While we’re hopeful to gather in-person for this year’s Leadership Conference, the safety of our community is our #1 priority. We will follow the same criteria we’re using to fully reopen (with no restrictions) our Program Centers as we determine whether or not to offer in-person Leadership Conference programming:

  1. King County’s "level of community transmission" (per CDC) must be moderate or lower for at least two weeks prior to the event, and
  2. King County and/or WA State must not have a mask mandate currently in effect.

We will monitor changing local and state guidance through the fall and begin evaluating the feasibility of in-person Leadership Conference programming on October 29. If, at any point after October 29, the criteria for running an in-person event are not met, we will cancel the in-person event.

If we are unable to offer in-person programming, we will encourage Leadership Conference presenters to give their presentations as part of our virtual Leadership Development Series. We will not offer a full-day virtual Leadership Conference, nor will we run an in-person event at reduced capacity. Registered attendees will receive a full refund in the event of a cancellation. Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and understanding!

We suggest that you bring something to take notes, a warm layer for our sometimes-chilly building, and a reusable water bottle and/or travel mug.
