The Mountaineers Core Values

Our current strategic plan wraps up this year and we're turning our attention to creating Vision 2022. The Mountaineers Core Values, along with our mission statement, are the foundation upon which we'll build the future of adventure, advocacy, community, education, and volunteerism.

The Mountaineers Core Values

Mountaineers have been enjoying the lands and waters of the Pacific Northwest and beyond for 110 years, and it's our long-term aspiration to be thriving for another 110 years. As we look toward Vision 2022 - our next strategic plan - we felt it was time to put our core values on paper.

Considering we've been getting folks outside for over a century, it's unusual that we didn't already have core values established. Our mission - to enrich the community by helping people explore, conserve, learn about, and enjoy the lands and waters of the Pacific Northwest and Beyond - has remained relatively unchanged since our founding, and so we asked our staff, board, and volunteer leaders to help us define our core values.

What we found was that our community agreed on the five tenants of The Mountaineers core values: adventure, advocacy, community, education, and volunteerism. Along with our Mission Statement, these core values will act as the foundation of our next strategic plan: Vision 2022.
