----------------------------------

In this session, teacher and instructional coach Ben Brown will work with you to develop skills and strategies that you can take back to your branch and put into practice with Mountaineers students right away. Using a variety of hands-on and interactive activities, we will dig into strategies for presenting information, examine the importance of feedback in the learning process, and discuss how to determine whether or not our students are leaving our activity or field trip having learned the skills or knowledge in focus.

The session is purposefully structured to model strong instructional strategies: you won’t be sitting for two hours straight, listening to a presentation! Come ready to move around and have discussions with other Mountaineers, and to reflect on how you might apply the strategies we use to your own instruction.

Ben Brown has been a Mountaineers member and volunteer instructor for four years. His day job is as an instructional coach, working with teachers to improve their craft. Ben is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education in Instructional Systems Design and Technology.
