This will be a morning skate ski from 9:00 to noon. We will meet at 9:00 at the Winthrop Town Trail Head, and we'll skate ski out from there on the flat Methow Community Trail. Then, to get in some minor hill work, we will skate over to both the Bitterbrush and Barnsley Lake Intermediate Trails. We will skate ski approx. 9 miles.
More detailed directions for this trip will be emailed out at the end of December to the registered skiers.
This will be an Intermediate Skate Ski trip. Skiers will need to have stamina and 'continuous' skate ski skills to keep a steady pace on both flat trail and skiing up minor hills. We will take rest stops as needed.
Be prepared that if the temperatures drop to real cold, 10º F or lower, we will switch to an intermediate classic ski trip instead. The reason for switching ski style is because it is too difficult to skate ski in cold snow temperatures. It is a lot of work, slower going, and not much fun.
Read over Winter Trails in the Methow link to find a ski map, trail pass cost, trail reports, etc.
Arrive at the Winthrop Trail Head with your ski pass for the day at 9:00.
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
