Wilderness First Aid (WFA)
The Wilderness First Aid course is a 16 hour program plus a scenario practice session, and provides participants with a nationally recognized certification for basic backcountry first aid and emergency response.

The Mountaineers Wilderness First Aid course consists of two parts. To finish the course and receive the Wilderness First Aid badge, participants must usually complete the following:
WFA Wilderness First Aid - two 8-hour days of lectures with practice and scenarios
Wilderness First Aid is taught by experienced wilderness and emergency medical providers from Remote Medical Training (RMT). The course includes independent first aid and CPR certifications that are recognized nationally. Your course fee covers the cost of this instruction.
Equivalency notes: Some requirements may be waived or equivalency granted to individuals who have current backcountry medical certifications or extensive experience in providing medical care in remote or austere environments. Contact the course leader if you meet these requirements. You will have to provide proof of your certification and/or experience and may still be required to complete the Scenarios portion of the class to receive credit. Urban and front-country medical training alone is not sufficient to meet this requirement, even with advanced education and experience.

This course has no scheduled activities.
Clothing and gear suitable for mountaineering. Scenarios will be done outside and you should do the exercises with the gear you would actually bring on a trip.
