Marine Coastal Navigation Course

DESCRIPTION OF SKILLS

The holder of this badge has successfully completed our Marine Coastal Navigation for Sailors. Course graduates will have learned how to: 

• Read information from a nautical chart, both paper and electronic
• Use speed, time traveled and distance traveled to plan a route 
• Use known landmarks, chart information and currents to determine and track your position
• Use of onboard electronics to communicate, determine water depth, boat speed and display position
