Join fellow students and our volunteer instructors for a day of learning in the classroom, designed to prepare you for safe enjoyment of paddling on the Puget Sound and beyond.

We'll cover many topics including sea kayaking equipment and clothing essentials, cold water safety and an intro to tides, currents, wind and chart reading. The afternoon will mostly focus on a trip planning exercise, and concludes with a discussion of the remaining course activities and requirements.
Meet at the Tacoma Mountaineers Program Center, downstairs in the Great Hall. Registration begins at 8am. Please arrive 8-8:15am. We'll finish up by 4pm.
Required Equipment
Please bring these items: Your lunch as there will not be time to go out for lunch, mug, paper for taking notes.
