The trail extends approximately 4 miles through forests and meadows, switchbacking to the lookout on the summit of Green Mountain at an elevation of 6,500 feet. We will stay together while we hike, regroup and resting as needed and enjoying the views and scenery. We will return on the same trails to our cars at the trailhead. Please be at the trailhead by 7 am (give yourself plenty of time to get there) and ready to hike by 7:15 am.

This is one of the most popular hikes in the state; expect it to be busy on an autumn weekend. Additionally, most of the trail is situated on exposed south-facing slopes that can get quite warm on sunny days.  Hence the early start. Consider camping close to the trailhead the evening before.

We will meet at the Green Mountain Trailhead at 7:00 am Saturday September 13.

To access the trailhead from the south, travel to Darrington and then proceed north on State Route 530 for 7.5 miles, turning right immediately after the Sauk River bridge onto Forest Road 26 (Suiattle River Road).

From the north travel to Rockport and then drive south on SR 530 for 11 miles to FR 26.

Follow FR 26 first on pavement, then on gravel for 19 miles, turning left onto FR 2680. Continue 6 miles to the trailhead, near the road end (elev. ~3200 ft).

No pass is required for parking
