The trail extends approximately 3.5 miles through forests and meadows to a high point just below the actual summit of Yellow Aster Butte. We will not actually go to the summit since it is technically a scramble. We will stay together while we hike, regroup and resting as needed and enjoying the views and scenery. We will return on the same trails to our cars at the trailhead. Please be at the trailhead by 8 am (give yourself plenty of time to get there) and ready to hike by 8:30.

We will meet at the Tomyhoi/Yellow Aster Butte Trailhead at 8:00 am Thursday August 21. To access the trailhead, take State Highway 542 (The Mount Baker Highway) through the town of Glacier, and turn left onto Twin Lakes Road (Forest Road 3065). The road should be signed. Give yourself plenty of time to arrive by 8 am as this trailhead is a bit of a drive from the Seattle/Tacoma area and can be quite rough. There is also limited parking at the trailhead, so carpooling is encouraged. Either the Northwest Forest or Interagency (America the Beautiful) Pass is required for parking.
