Intro to Backpacking Practice Camp - Kitsap Forest Theater

This practice camp will provide students with an idea of what it will be like preparing for their first backpacking trip and how they can fine tune their gear selections for a more comfortable experience. We will spend the morning and early afternoon practicing our backpacking skills which will include:

• Carrying a weighted backpack on a day hike
• Pack adjustment
• Packing techniques
• Setting up camp
• Filtering water
• Cooking dinner with your camp kitchen

 Some leaders will be car camping on the property to allow students the option to test their backpacking gear on an overnight before going on a real trip.

8am-12:30pm at the Kitsap Forest Theater Property. No parking pass needed. Directions to the property will be sent in a pre-trip email. Plan to spend 5 hours outside.
