Intro to Backpacking Field Trip - Marmot Pass & Buckhorn Mountain
This trip is to Marmot Pass, with views of Buckhorn Mountain. We will not be heading up Buckhorn Mountain. Preference to Tacoma Branch Introduction to Backpacking Students. Trip will open to all Mountaineers based on availability on April 27, 2026.

Day 1: Enjoy some classic alpine scenery on Marmot Pass. We will head up to Shelter Rock, where we will be setting up camp. From there, we will make our way up to Marmot Pass. On a clear day, expansive views of jagged peaks, rolling basins, and distant valleys can be seen in every direction. After enjoying the Pass, we will head back to camp to enjoy the rest of the day.
Day 2: Pack up camp and head down back to the trailhead.
Trip will be cancelled if inclement weather occurs or if air quality is unhealthy. More details will be emailed to the participants.
