Pack up your sleeping bag, your summer reading, your sense of adventure, and spend the week backpacking with The Mountaineers!
Campers ages 13-15 are invited to join The Mountaineers for an intermediate backpacking trip including skill development, community building, and a heavy dose of outdoor adventure. Campers will work collaboratively to set up camp, cook outdoors, and have fun exploring in and around the mountains and lakes of the PNW.
Trails Week 2 features 2 nights in the backcountry of Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, along with prep and debrief nights at Baker Lodge. The group will hike along beautiful trails, have the opportunity to swim in alpine lakes, and take in majestic views of the surrounding mountains. This trip will give campers who have some previous comfort and experience in the outdoors the chance to be challenged in a new environment, develop community, and further expand their outdoor skills.
The "intermediate" rating on this course means that some prior experience is needed to participate, such as some previous backpacking, camping, or hiking trips. The backpacking trip will be 3 days, 2 nights on a loop trail, and the group will move camping spots each night. Students will carry their own clothes, food, and sleeping materials in addition to a small portion of group gear (tent pieces, camp kitchen kits, bathroom kit, other group essentials).
