An Alpine Climb lead by volunteers and/or staff for MAC! This trip has prerequisites. See leaders notes for details. Location will be determined later, options are: WA Pass, Vesper Peak, or other alpine rock.

Pre-Trip Meeting will be on Google Meet on Wednesday at 6:00 PM meet.google.com/ire-pydk-xbv

Prerequisites: 

For alpine rock climbs:

Skills/workshops: Multi-pitch systems, belay escape, rappelling, lead climbing / lead belaying

Other courses/trips: Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course/badge, Leavenworth Multi-Pitch trip / successful multi-pitch climb, Summer Trip / successful muti-pitch climb there

If glacier climb: In addition to all of the above: Crevasse rescue workshop, glacier climbing fundamentals (at least 2), Snow 1, Snow 2

In addition the technical skills described above, participants joining this trip may be asked to describe the physical preparations they have undertaken - this may include conditioning hikes, other easier climbs, weekly training routines, etc.

  • Clothes –Pack for alpine climbing!
    • One outfit for climbing (sun protection required)
    • extra warm layers for night or a separate set of clothes (long johns/baselayers)
    • fleece/lightweight down mid-layer
    • hard wind/rain shell for outer layer
    • warm big puffy for night/wind in the day
    • Lightweight gloves
    • Beanie/scarf/buff
    • Extra socks
    • sunglasses
  • Backpack 40-60 L
  • Shoes – This is going to be conditions dependent. Everyone will bring Mountaineering boots, but bring more comfortable boots/approach shoes as well.
  • Crampons
  • Ice Axe
  • Climbing Gear: Belay Device with locker, Rappel Device with locker, P.A.S with locker., 2 extra lockers, 2 non-lockers, prusik loop with locker.
  • Helmet

    • Personal mess kit including: plate/bowl, utensils, cup
    • Camp chair
