Seattle Junior MAC Camping & Climbing Trip - Vantage (Frenchman Coulee)

[SALMON POD] Phase 2 trip for Jr. MAC. Climbing and hiking in Vantage, WA.

  • Crag Rock Climb
  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)
  • SAT OCT 3 | 9:30AM: Meet at the Frenchman Coulee  dispersed camping area in Vantage, WA
    • Carl will camp out Friday night, claim an area, and send the exact pin to meetup at. Look for a large white Ford Transit Van (BNS4246) w/ 1 white roof vent van and 2 solar panels, group up nearby. This is where we will camp/meetup (to become a link once secured). 
  • SUN OCT 4 | Return home in the evening

Jr. MAC will spend two days, one night climbing in Vantage, WA

Required Equipment

Required Equipment


  • Clothes for climbing
    • Clothes for back at camp (can be cool in the evening)
  • Sun Protection: sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, sun shirt, etc.
  • Backpack: Day pack for carrying your personal items/group gear with you as we hike to the rock


  • Hiking Boots or Sneakers to wear on the hike to the rock
  • Camp Shoes (optional) 
  • Climbing Shoes (can be borrowed from The Mountaineers) 

Camping items:

  • Personal mess kit including: plate/bowl, utensils, cup
  • Camp chair
  • Tent (can be borrowed from the Mountaineers with advance notice)
  • Sleeping bag/pad (can be borrowed from the Mountaineers with advance notice)
  • Pillow (we’re car camping; might as well be comfy!)
  • Toiletries (restrooms available at campsite)
  • Headlamp/flashlight with extra batteries

Food for yourself/family: 

    • Breakfast: (x2; one of them is on the road to meeting everyone Saturday morning)
    • Lunch: (x2; be able to pack them in your backpack to eat at the rock)
    • Dinner: (x1)
    • Snacks: enough for both Saturday and Sunday
  • Water: 2 liters per person per day minimum 

Climbing gear (can be borrowed from The Mountaineers; pick up sometime in the week before the trip):

    • Harness
    • Belay device
    • Helmet
  • 10 Essentials 
  • Face mask(s)
  • Hand Sanitizer
