The Seattle Mountaineers Sailing Committee is hosting a free on online informational webinar on the Mammals of the Salish Sea.

LOCATION:  Registrants will receive a Zoom link via email a few days prior to the presentation

Marine Mammologist, Dr. Cindy Elliser of the Salish Sea Institute, will educate and entertain you with facts and stories about the common, and uncommon, animals you may see in our local waters.  Learn about identifying each species, their common behaviors and some recent research on their populations here in the Salish Sea.  

Dr. Elliser is the Associate Director of the Salish Sea Institute and a marine mammologist and educator based out of Anacortes, Washington.  Cindy obtained her PhD in Integrative Biology form Florida Atlantic University where she studied the social structure of dolphins in the Bahamas.  Upon moving to the Pacific Northwest, Cindy founded, and is the Research Director of, Pacific Mammal Research, a scientific non-profit organization that researches harbor porpoises and harbor seals as well as educates the public about marine mammals in the Salish Sea.  

She was an Associate Professor at Skagit Valley College, and currently teaches at Western Washington University. She has over 20 years experience in marine mammal research and education and enjoys sharing her knowledge throughout the Salish  Sea region.
