This is an instructor review for those who have committed to leading or assistant leading Introduction to the Natural World field trips, particularly those associated with Lectures 1 and 2. We'll talk about expectations for the field trip participants, ways to observe and and encourage students to use the Washington Wildflower Search app and other tools as well as all their senses for plant and tree identification. We'll discuss the ecology, the geology and history of Discovery Park, then walk through several trails to point out some of our favorite teaching spots, practice identifying various trees and plants, sharing observations as we go.
At the end of the session, we'll review the list of plants and trees to focus on and we'll debrief; identifying what when well and what could be improved on in a future instructor review session.
Recommendation: Look at the description for some of the Lecture 1 field trips in the INW Course, to see what expectations students may have
Sign up for this only if you are an INW grad and have committed to instruct for the Class field trips. Contact the leader if you have questions.
