Moss & Lichen Workshop - Seattle - 2021

Naturalist Course

Moss Workshop

In this workshop we will learn to identify common mosses, liverworts and lichens of our lowland forests. Students will choose from a field trip at Redmond Watershed Preserve on either January 30 or January 31.

Mosses, liverworts, and lichens positively brighten NW winter forests and river valleys. In this workshop you will learn how to identify up to 35 mosses, several liverworts, and 10 or more common lichens using a visual key designed for the course and provided to students.

The workshop includes an evening online lecture and a half day field trip locally, as well as a printed packet of course materials.

To meet COVID-19 protocols, field trips will be delivered in small groups of no more than 6--4 students and up to 2 instructors.  Please note the start time of your field trip--either 9:00 or 10:00.  Masks should be worn throughout the field trip, as we will move slowly with minimal physical exertion.
