Field trip: Pelagic Birds of Puget Sound
Bird Field Trip - Port Angeles & North Olympic Coast
Puget Sound birds await us. We will bird the north coast of the Olympic Peninsula from Ediz Hook toward the Kingston Ferry. We will look for seabirds and also land birds, making numerous stops along the way and walking along the beach in a few places.

Bring binoculars and if you have a scope, bring that too.
Bring warm clothes, layers, rain gear, Lunch. hot and cold drinks
This will be an intense birding trip, but one never knows what we might find.
The focus will be on practicing the skills needed to identify pelagic birds. We will look for separating species into families, then using size, shape, color patterns, behaviors, and other information to make an identification. We will review the information covered in the course.
Most importantly, we will have lots of fun.
From Seattle, we will need to catch the 7:10 AM ferry from Edmonds to Kingston.
We will meet at the far end of Ediz Hook, by the restrooms and boat launch, arriving around 9:15 AM. Birding will begin at Ediz Hook, although we can see some birds from the rest stop at Jamestown.
I plan to be back in Kingston and aim to catch the 5:30 PM ferry.
I will send more information on this trip as it approaches so people can arrange carpools if they wish. The leader may already be in the Port Angeles area.
