CHS 2 Pacing Hike - Tiger Mountain Trail

This is a CHS-2 pacing hike. The Tiger Mountain Trail, fondly called the TMT, is the trail least traveled! This trail wanders up, down, in, out, and around in a seemingly haphazard manner. But there is such beauty to delight your eyes and your spirit as we traverse a 5-mile section of this 16-mile trail to Murat’s Bridge.

We begin at High Point TH and head to West Tiger #3 Trail, but we are only on WT#3 for a minute before we start our gentle climb on the TMT. We’ll cross Cable Line Trail, then continue on a series of switchbacks on the TMT to Anschell’s Allee, a tribute to a volunteer who helped to build the TMT. After the Allee, we will cross two tributaries of High Point Creek on wooden bridges, before coming to the K3 Trail intersection. We take a sharp left at this intersection and continue to Murat’s Bridge to cross High Point Creek, again. It’s probably safe to say that this 220 ft long suspension bridge is one of the seven wonders on Tiger Mtn. Murat Danishek was an outdoors’s man who died far too young at age 32; his family made a $10K contribution to the bridge project in his memory. After pausing to pay our respects and to admire this amazing engineering feat, we will return to the trailhead the way we came.
