West Tiger 3 is one of the most popular trails in the Issaquah Alps, and an early start helps us enjoy a quieter ascent. The route begins on an old logging road before transitioning to narrower singletrack as we climb toward the summit. Near the top, we cross the Cable Line Trail, which rises directly from I‑90.
If the weather cooperates, the summit offers one of the best viewpoints in the area — sweeping vistas of Mt. Rainier, Puget Sound, Seattle, Bellevue, and parts of Lake Sammamish.
Expect rocky and occasionally slick sections, especially in spring when decomposing plant matter can make the rocks surprisingly slippery. Trekking poles and sturdy footwear are strongly recommended.
Take exit 20 and drive up to the large parking lot, bring your discovery pass. There will be bathrooms.
We will meet shortly before 7, to have an early departure at 7 sharp. This will bring us back before noon, to still enjoy the rest of the day for activities. And secure us a parking space on this busy trail.
