We'll take snack/bio breaks on the hour for 3-5 minutes, a longer lunch break at the peak, and if desired (assuming it's hot) a wading/swimming break at Mason Lake. Bring a wide-brimmed hat, plenty of water (at least 3 liters, leader carries 4 in the summer) and a buff for soaking in streams. Wading shoes and a hand towel to dry your feet, as well as a sitting pad, are also a great idea. Bring portable, accessible snacks for the hike and a more substantial (but still light) lunch for the summit.
This will be another in the series of Early Tuesday Hikes with the leader team of Court and Diane. Plan to be at the trailhead bright and early at Exit 45 (6:15 for a 6:30 a.m. walking start) to beat the crowds (small-ish parking lot, carpooling recommended) and to beat the heat, especially going through the boulder field. Optional wading/swimming stop on the way down at Mason Lake if the weather insists on it.
