Expect shade and greenery. Our uphill pace will be roughly 1.5-1.75 mph, 2 mph on descents.

We'll ascend via Gombu Cliffs route (right at the fork) then continue down the other side to Shy Bear Pass, and continue by following signs over to Doughty Falls.

Our two 15-minute breaks will be at the registry (Whittaker Wilderness Peak) and at Doughty Falls which hopefully will still have running water.

Biobreaks requested as needed. Our goal will be to move pretty continuously and steady, with a few sensory pauses to take in birds, flora, and views. Leader is a big birding fan and loves photography. Join the fun.

Early Bird Tuesday hike. Meet on the east side of Cougar Mountain. From  I-90, take Exit 15 and drive south on highway 900 for a little over 3 miles. Look for the trailhead sign and an asphalt driveway that goes uphill to the right. We will assemble at 6:20 a.m. and start introductions/stretching at 6:30 so we can be walking by 6:40.
