Beautiful Mason Lake is a well known destination along the I-90 corridor, but few venture beyond. We will hike to that pretty little spot then keep going until the trail ends, passing unnamed lake 4400' and Rainbow Lake before reaching our turnaround point at paradoxically-named Island Lake.
This hike is slightly larger than the CHS1 goals for June but we'll pace ourselves with rest stops at Mason Lake as well as our turnaround point at Island Lake. It will be only a few days past the summer solstice so we'll have plenty of daylight. What better way to spend it?
On the way back we'll stop at North Bend Bar and Grill.
The trail starts at the popular Ira Spring Trailhead, so we'll get an early start to avoid the crowds.
