In-Person training day for the hybrid Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course

Seattle Program Center, room Goodman C, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

This in the middle hands-on part of the hybrid Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course.  It is preceded by approximately eight hours of self-paced online training, and followed by an online assessment exam.  It is  a full day of hands-on activity, including time spent practicing skills from the online training, and running through various scenarios that simulate incidents that might occur in the backcountry.

Depending on the weather, the class may include outdoor as well as indoor activities and scenarios.  See the blue "Required Equipment" tab for a list of clothing and other times to bring.

Required Equipment

The in-person portion of this class is  a mixture of inside and outside experiences. You may be asked to sit or lay on the ground as part of a practice scenario.  Additionally, stage make-up (moulage) is used to represent injuries.  Please wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty!  Below is a list of items recommended for for the in-person activities:

  • Pen/Pencil and notepad
  • First Aid Kit
  • Gear and clothing appropriate for varying weather.
  • Gear and clothing appropriate the the activity you participate in with the Mountaineers.
  • Water bottle, snacks, lunch, coffee mug, etc.
  • Sit pad, outdoor chair, closed-cell foam pad.
