Evaluation outing to receive trad equivalency. Skills covered include placing gear, gear spacing, clean and lower, gear anchors and for candidates with significant multi pitch experience multi pitch transitions, scenario discussions, lowering climber from top device.
You should be comfortable climbing at least 5.7 trad. Please indicate in your leader's permission request a handful of single pitch and multi pitch trad climbs you've led in the last few years.
The skill badges earned from this equivalency session in combination with taking Self Rescue 1 (and having the basic alpine badge) will result in being awarded the rock rope leader badge. The rock rope leader badge allows you to rope lead on basic and intermediate alpine rock climbs. This equivalency session on it's own (without self rescue 1 or basic alpine equivalency) would allow you to be an assistant leader on crag outings.
Meet at Vantage toilets at 9:30am. If weather on Sunday is better than Saturday we may switch days so please hold both weekend days.
