An informal session for those wanting to practice crevasse rescue (including new basic grads, old-timer grads, basic equivalency candidates and everyone in-between). Note if you are planning on instructing at Winter Mountaineering-Advanced Crevasse rescue course please join those instructor sessions which cover more complex rescue.

This Seattle Basic Refresher Clinic - Crevasse Rescue - covers the rescue systems used to extract a climber who has fallen into a crevasse while on a Basic glacier climb with two or more rope teams.
Skills to be practiced:
- Knots used on glacier climbs
- Prusiking up a climbing rope
- Pulley rescue systems
- Safe setup and execution of a rescue system
C-pulley is the default system. We can also practice 3:1 (z-pulley) if time allows.
Not covered: Systems with additional mechanical advantage (5:1, 6:1, 7:1) , 2-person crevasse rescue, rappelling into a crevasse to check on your fallen climber, moving an incapacitated climber to a safe location. If you are planning to instruct WMCR and wanting to review those topics, please attend one of the WMCR instructor review sessions (not this).

- Glacier gear, including prusiks and glacier pulley

- Outer layers (basement gets cold)
