Adventure Speaker Series - Dirk & Dixie Havlak: 9 Months Across America

Olympia Branch Meet the Mountaineers Adventure Speaker Series & Potluck featuring "Dirk & Dixie Havlak: 9 Months Across America" Dirk & Dixie Havlak set off in a small RV on September 25, 2013, from Olympia, WA to see as many National Parks and other exciting natural areas of the US as possible. Nine months later, they have hiked, biked, and canoed from the Southwest all the way to the tip of Florida, up to Maine and across the Northern U.S. back to Washington. Come see what they discovered on their journey!

Who: All members and anyone interested in learning more about the Mountaineers are welcome.

What: The Monthly Meet the Mountaineers Adventure Speaker Presentation and Potluck. Bring a dish to share, your own plate and flatware. No paper tossing at our potlucks!

Where: Friends Meeting House, 3201 Boston Harbor Road. (From I-5, Plum Street, head north, left side, next to Priest Point Park)

When: The first Wednesday of the Month, September to May (excluding November), at 6:00 PM for a shared potluck and socializing hour, followed by an Outdoor Adventure Presentation at 7:00 PM

Why: Meet your fellow Mountaineers, share ideas, learn about others’ escapades and adventures, and connect with our great community of outdoor enthusiasts. (Librarian Maxine Dunkelman will have a selection of books available for checkout to Mountaineer Club members. Contact her at maxdunk@comcast.net if you have special requests.)
