  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

This will be a class on how to plan and manage a family or youth outing---a hike or urban adventure with our family hiking group or one of our outdoor clubs. This could include anything from a car camping trip to a backpacking trip to a nature study or craft project or low tide ramble or a regular 2-4 mile hike.

This is designed for those who want to be assistant leaders as well as those ready to take on the responsibility of being hike or adventure leaders.

We will discuss: ideas for successful hikes and adventures, how to make trips with kids fun and appropriate, managing special issues including parents (!), appropriate gear, special family hiking supplies, the mentoring program,  how to list hikes online and manage your roster, dealing with emergencies.

To be a hike leader you must be Youth Qualified, so consider starting the process prior to this class to get a head start.  Use the link below.
