MOFA is a 32 hour course offering essential safety and first aid skills and CPR for those who enjoy climbing, hiking, and other wilderness activities. This class satisfies requirements for Basic Climbing, Alpine Scrambles, and Leadership courses. The MOFA certificate is good for three years. MOFA builds prevention and basic first aid skills using the Seven Steps and ASHI Wilderness First Aid to help you effectively respond to trail emergencies with the gear you carry. Hands-on outdoor practice with your gear is a key part of the class. You'll respond to scenarios based on actual mountaineering incidents and instructor experiences. Outdoor practice happens rain or shine, so be ready with  clothing and a pack appropriate  for a day on the trail. Include extra clothing, trekking poles, your current first aid kit and the rest of your 10 Essentials. Scramblers and Climbers should bring helmet and ice axe. Come prepared to have fun and be challenged while learning MOFA.
