Student will learn about knots and equipment used in sport climbing, quickdraw clipping and common mistakes, anchor setup and cleaning, and lead belaying.

The goal will be to familiarize the group with equipment common to sport climbing and then progress in to the mechanics and technical aspects of leading and lead belaying. Anchor construction and cleaning will be demonstrated and opportunity will be provided for students to have guided practice.
Meet up at the Kitsap Program Center at 6pm ready to start. Please bring the gear listed in the Course and Activity Required Equipment. Please contact the lead instructor in advance if unable to obtain all the equipment in time.

Belay Device (eg Petzl Reverso, Black Diamond ATC Guide, or similar)
Assisted Braking Device (eg Petzl GriGri, Black Diamond Pilot, or similar) *optional
6 Locking Carabiners
8-10 Quickdraws *Can be shared with one other student if prearranged.
7mm Nylon Cord (18-21ft) or Quad length runner
2 Double Length Runners
