Introduction of methods to rescue a second who is unable to climb further and may be unresponsive and to introduce and practice alternative rappel methods. We will analyze forces on the anchor and how these change with rescue method chosen.

We will introduce and practice methods to access and extricate a two-person climbing team from a situation where the follower is unable to advance or is unresponsive. We will practice alternative rappel methods in the event a belay device is not available. We will analyze forces on rescue anchors.

Required Equipment
Climbing harness, helmet and rack with several locking and non-locking carabiners, slings and gear sufficient to create a friction release hitch, and carabiner block and tackle.
