Lower Lena Lake is the final hike on our tour of Hood Canal trails. Our goal for this hike will be to get outside and enjoy the end of summer on the Olympic Peninsula while returning to the trailhead as a group. We will plan to do introductions and orientation at 8:00, then hit the trail. My hike style is social, but destination-focused and I encourage getting to know your fellow hikers. I am happy to stop for photos and plant identification, but ask that folks keep up with the group. We will hike as a loose group (everyone remains within eyesight) at a pace of 1.5-2.25mph depending on how the group is feeling and will plan to stop for a snack and a break at the lake.
We will hike along Lena Creek through mossy old growth and second-growth forest to the beautiful Lower Lena Lake. The trail begins with a series of gentle switchbacks, then begins to climb a bit more steeply uphill. There will be plenty of creeks, streams, and giant boulders to view along the way! Poles are recommended. We should be done hiking in 5 hours. I would suggest blocking out the entire day for this hike. After the hike, participants are invited to stop at Hoodsport Coffee Company for coffee and Olympic Mountain Ice Cream!

Meet at 8:00 am at Lena Lake / The Brothers Trailhead. I suggest arriving at the trailhead 15 minutes early. Hikers are expected to be geared up and ready to hike at 8:00am. A Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass is required. Bathrooms are available at the trailhead.
