I love Cougar Mountain state park for the easy access.  It's close, requires no parking pass, and has a wealth of trails and wilderness.  On this hike we'll explore some of my favorite spots in the park.  We'll walk some of the old clay mining road on our way out to the clay pit where we'll take a break for lunch / snacks.  If the weather cooperates we get a nice view of Tiger Mountains peaks as well.  Then we'll route past the old mine shaft and pause to enjoy Coal Creek Falls on our way back to the trailhead.

10:00am at the Red Town Trailhead.  There's plenty of parking and no parking pass needed.
