June Hikes: 3.5 to 6 miles, 400 to 1,500 feet gain - Cherry Creek Falls

Cherry Creek Falls is a delightful easy and rolling 450 ft of gain over 5 miles. The trail has plenty of bumps and interesting finds along the way, as well as tree cover to keep us a little cooler or drier. This out-and-back hike peaks at a 25' waterfall we can have our lunch or snack break at and enjoy exploring the area. This hike counts toward your monthly required GoHike course June trips.

For those who love a good bakery, Rustic Cabin Cafe will be our pre-park n ride meeting place to grab those delicious snacks and sandwiches to enjoy during our waterfall break. If you plan to stop at the bakery/cafe, you should arrive there no later than 12 pm to ensure you can order and get your item before it is time to meet at the park n ride. The bakery will be closed when we come back.

Leader Style

I lead a relaxed style hike where folks can take occasional photos, enjoy naturalist activities such as plant identification and tree hugging. We will hang out at the waterfall for a decent amount of time, allowing all to linger, relax, stretch, eat, truly enjoy the scenery. I also love offering mindful outdoor experiences, such as a nature sound bath, noticing with our senses, and more.  Usually, I arrange for us to do some socializing at the bakery/cafe before the trip.

Expectations:  I expect all Mountaineers trip participants to practice Leave No Trace principals and be prepared enough as if this was a trip you were going on solo (have maps downloaded or printed, or have the trip saved to your app so you can track yourself), and be in the appropriate condition for the mileage and speed noted on the trip. I expect folks to respect nature and respect yourself (limits and such) and respect each other. Whatever pace we are going will average out to suit all of us, not the fastest or least interested in pausing to consider nature.

We will depart from the Duvall Park and Ride at 12:15 pm (16011 Main St NE, Duvall, WA 98019). If you would like to stop at the delicious bakery for some snacks to-go before we leave, meet at Rustic Cabin Coffee at 11:45 AM - 12:00 PM (15715 Main St NE #105, Duvall, WA 98019). The Cafe is an easy 3-5 minute walk from the P&R.

There is very limited parking at the trailhead, so carpooling is not required but strongly encouraged at least from the Park & Ride. We depart the Park & Ride at approximately 12:15 pm. We will then gather at the Cherry Creek Falls trailhead (16538 Kelly Rd NE, Duvall, WA 98019) complete with side-of-street parking at 12:30 ish to get ourselves together and oriented, heading out on the trail as close after 12:30 pm as we can.

No pass required. Duvall is about 30-40 minutes from North Kirkland and about 50 min to over an hour from North Seattle areas.
