June GoHike Urban Walk: 3.5 to 6 miles, 400 to 1,500 feet gain (optional)

Field trip: GoHike: Beginner Hiking Course

June GoHike Urban Walk: 3.5 to 6 miles, 400 to 1,500 feet gain (optional) - Richmond Beach Saltwater Park

Richmond Beach Park is located in Shoreline with beach access, bluffs, trails and water and mountain views. We'll begin with 188 stairs in the park, into the surrounding neighborhood to Kayu Kayu Park, on to the library, back to the highest bluff trail in the park and down to the beach. GoHike Urban Walks are outings of at least two miles or longer that take place on city or suburban streets, parks or greenbelts. This urban walk counts toward your monthly required GoHike course June trips.

  • Easy
  • Mileage: 3.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 200 ft
  • Pace: 1.5-2mph

We will meet by the restrooms in the lower parking lot ready to walk at 9 AM.

The terrain is pavement, trails and sand.

There are 188 stairs to begin with and one long hill about midway in the walk.

The pace will be closer to 2.0. I have a tendency to walk fast.

I expect everyone to stay together as a group and cross streets as a group.

There are bathrooms at the starting point, Kayu Kayu Park, possibly the library depending when we get there, and at the beach.

This is meant to be a pleasant social outing enjoying nature with the bonus of a physical activity.

We will have the option of  going to the  Blackbird Cafe in Shoreline afterwards for lunch/brunch.
