Our goal for this 5mi hike will be to get outside and enjoy the wildflowers and views of Mt. Rainier while returning to the trailhead as a group. We will plan to do introductions and orientation at 8:00am, then hit the trail. My hike style is social, but destination-focused and I encourage getting to know your fellow hikers. I am happy to stop for photos and plant identification, but ask that folks keep up with the group. We will hike as a loose group (everyone remains within eyesight) at a pace of 1.5-2.0mph, going slower on uphill portions. We will plan to stop for a snack at the Noble Knob summit.

We’ll start out hiking along the ridge line on the Dalles Ridge Trail for two miles before connecting to the Noble Knob Trail. From there it will be a short (but steeper) half mile to the summit and panoramic views of Mt. Rainier and George Lake. Note that this hike runs through an old burn and is mostly open. Poles will be helpful. We should be finished hiking in 4 hours. After the hike, participants are invited to stop at Wapiti Outdoors in Greenwater for ice cream!

8:00 AM at the Dalles Ridge Trailhead. I suggest arriving at the trailhead 15 minutes early. Hikers are expected to be geared up and ready to hike at 8:00. Be aware that getting to the trailhead required driving 10 miles on an unpaved Forest Service road. A Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass is required.
