🎒Hike from the Westside Road TH to Lake George, hopefully starting around 8:30 or 9:00 a.m. (We may need to do a short car shuttle, but we’ll see what the permit brings.) Make camp, take a break, then day hike up to the amazing Gobblers Knob Fire Lookout, and then back to camp. This is about a 7-mile day.
🎒I am hoping to secure a permit for the next day at either Devil’s Dream or Klapatche Park. We’ll have to see, but the ranger sounded hopeful that one of those would work. Either way, we’ll pass by the South Puyallup campground and the incredible rock formations there. This could be 8 or 10 miles, depending on our destination. We’ll take it at the pace of the group.
🎒On the last day, we’ll hike out possibly down Kautz Creek or down the St. Andrew’s Creek Trail to Westside Road (which is closed to traffic in this section). This could be 6 or 10 miles, depending on the site we get.
🎒Please bring $40 or Venmo me for the cost of the campground and permits.
🎒It’s possible I may need to pivot and we end up elsewhere, so please bring your flexibility with you on this trip. Whatever it is, it’s going to be GREAT!
🎒You will need a BEAR CANISTER and a NATIONAL PARK PASS (America the Beautiful).
🎒Car camp at Big Creek campground on July 9. You can arrive anytime after 2:00.
From Ashford, WA, take Forest Road 52 approximately 5 miles to the campground.
