This is a 2 hour classroom orientation for new or aspiring Everett Scrambling field trip assistant instructors. It’s a great way to sharpen and maintain your skills, to help others, and to give back to the club.
Participation in this orientation is required to qualify as a new instructor. But all experienced instructors are welcome to attend as well, whether to refresh on field trip logistics, instructing policies, or to share your experience / expertise with new instructors.
Topics include:
> This season’s Field Trip logistics and day itineraries for instructors
> Expectations of instructors (and what is NOT expected)
> Fundamentals of how to teach and demonstrate physical skills
> Roles of Field Trip leaders, lead instructors, and assistant instructors
> Safety
> Responding to emergencies, unexpected events, and challenging participants.
> Filling out Student Booklets
