Join us for a very special installment of North Cascades Institute's Nature of Writing Speaker Series as Edge of the Map author Johanna Garton talks about the life of incredible mountaineer Christine Boskoff and the legacies she left behind from her adventures climbing the highest mountains in the world.  From her roots in the Midwest to the leadership of Seattle adventure travel company Mountain Madness, you’ll hear about what drove Chris to become the only American woman to summit six of the world’s 8000 meter peaks before switching lanes to explore unknown parts of the world.  The discussion will turn to the remarkable search and rescue efforts following her disappearance with Fowler in 2006 and finish with reflections on the spiritual, environmental and ethical challenges faced today by those who live in and love the mountains.
