Least couple feet still of snow and snowshoes recommended for crossing dangerous boulders half melted out. Snow softens as you gain elevation. There is a good foot track now though so possible to do without snowshoes but not recommended.
Great day in the mountains. Upon reaching the Lake Serene bathroom sign - head left and up the ridge the most obvious way - trending right near cliff line then level out followed by multiple ups and flats until the top. Great views of valley north and Index behind you. Summit surprisingly has decent views of Baring, Merchant, Gunn, and other peaks afar! Definitely a lotta elevation gain but mostly on trail.
