Be prepared to walk on uneven terrain, found on sidewalks and park pathways including multiple spots including modest stairs. Most challenigng hazard is intersections through bustling Seattle downtown. Please watch for drivers who are unfamiliar with Seattle oneways or fast travelling bicyclists. Almost all of this walk is on pavement with a very short jaunt through a jagged nature trail between Elliot Bay Marina and the boat launch. If tide is out, walkers can take that section along rocky water front to boat launch.
This is a lovely one way adventure part of the Seattle Olmsted 70 circuit. https://seattleolmsted.org/
From Pioneer Square Habitat Beach (new park!), head up a flight of stairs to skybridge to cross Alaskan Way. Glide up post alley for a little warm up, past the gumwall and through Pike Place Market. We had a run-in with a tiktok comedy star who was visiting town. Continue north past Victor Steinbrueck Park, Belltown neighborhood, and Olympic Sculpture Garden.
From there most of our walk enjoyed sweeping water views through Myrtle Edwards Park. Walkers commented how fun it was to see multiple views of the Seattle skyline. Onward north, we 'climbed' half way along the Magnolia Bridge over Pier 91 and down again. After a jaunt through the Elliot Bay Marina we ducked through a micro forest trail and after a short neighborhood walk, ended at Village Pub. On Saturdays the Magnolia Farmers Market lasts until 2pm.
RESTROOMS: Available at multiple locations, first in the ferry terminal, available at Pike Place Market and a couple of portable potties in Myrtle Edwards. Again once we reach Magnolia at Elliot Bay Marina and finally at Village Pub our final destination.
Think ahead on parking: Public transit strongly advised. If driving, recommend planning ahead to park in Magnolia (parking downtown can be expensive), bus to the start point (free parking in Magnolia). Either direction you can consider using a Lime Bike or a Scooter (helmet required, rentable through a smartphone app) from Magnolia to downtown takes about 20-30 minutes. I went the limebike route and it was a great option.
