  • Day Hiking & Trail Running

Trail to the shelter is in good shape and a fairly easy grade. The crossing of Tunnel Creek just past the shelter is the last available water source. Beyond the shelter the trail gets much steeper and one must scramble over rocks in several places. Two small ponds are passed before one gets views of Constance. From 5050 pass, take the footpath heading roughly west/right and follow the ridgeline to a small knob for the best views. From the knob one can see the cliffs of Constance, south to the Brothers, north to the Buckhorn peaks, down the Dosewallips valley to Hood Canal and across Puget Sound to the Cascades.

FS 2740 is in good shape to the trailhead.
