Trip Report

Stewardship - Windy Knob

We did trimming work along about a mile of RD 7545 -- removing new tree branch growth that was intruding into the ski trail

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Ankle deep snow on ground.  Melty as air temps in low 40s.

There had been some new snow in the prior couple of days.   So conditions were a bit cool and wet -- but everyone came prepared.      Andrius brought his chainsaw and under USFS Liason Tim Becker's supervision put that to work on larger trees intruding on the trail.     The rest of us used hand saws, loppers and a brush cutter to remove smaller branches and trees intruding into the ski trail and growing up from the road bed.

Weather was overcast with an occasional bit of snowfall early in the day.   Later on  an occasional bit of blue sky.
