Trip Report

Stewardship - Town Hall Seattle

Stewardship activity in support of NWAC's Northwest Snow and Avalanche Workshop

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • This being an urban destination, road conditions were fine.  Beware that parking for a day costs more than $30.

Four volunteers representing various Mountaineers winter activities staffed the raffle ticket table at the Northwest Avalanche Center's annual Northwest Snow and Avalanche Workshop, one of NWAC's largest annual outreach events. The volunteer group was organized by the Seattle Snowshoe Committee as a way to satisfy the committee's new Stewardship requirement  by giving back to the local Winter Recreation Community.

Because the Mountaineers volunteers were accepting money, including credit cards via Square on our personal phones, our station had more logistics that many volunteer positions. NWAC's Volunteer Coordinator did a great job of communicating with us in advance, setting up our Square accounts, and supplying us with the instructions and supplies we needed for the day. All went smoothly. The Mountaineers volunteers and the NWAC attendees were all very positive and fun to be around, making for an enjoyable day.
