  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

Town Hall Seattle at 7:30am - 4:00pm.  Carpooling may be arranged if desired.

The Northwest Avalanche Center is a vital local resource that provides critical life-saving information to the local Winter Recreation Community. To show them  our gratitude and support we will send a small group of able bodied volunteers to help at their annual Northwest Snow and Avalanche Workshop. This is one of NWAC's largest annual outreach events, which they describe as "a professional development seminar bringing together professionals and avid backcountry recreationists for a full day of avalanche education presented by some of the leading avalanche practitioners in North America."

Our crew of four will be responsible for selling raffle tickets 8am - 3pm.   We'll be using Square (www.square.com) to sell the tickets - NWAC will train us on what to do.   They've asked that everyone bring their own smartphone and to have downloaded the Square app in advance.   Details will be provided via email.

Though open to all, this trip is intended as a way for students in the Seattle Backcountry Snowshoe Course to satisfy their Stewardship requirement by giving back to the local Winter Recreation Community.
