Sea Kayak - Nisqually Delta & Reach

A nice pm paddle with scenic views of wildlife.

  • One needs a discover pass to park here. After 5pm the Nature center's restrooms are closed and there is only a poorly maintained outhouse (It did have paper), plan accordingly. It is noteworthy that after 5:30 or so the parking area (limited) begins to empty leaving more parking available. It was also mentioned that the poor fishing prediction might have helped thin the launch area. 

We met and launched without difficulty, paddled up the McCallister Creek area amidst seals, herons, kingfishers. At a 13.4 ft. High one is able to paddle through the shallows of the delta to get to McCallister by the I-5 hill through shallows. Had a good time leading a great group.
