Initial bridge over first creek is missing. There are some logs to step on in order to cross the creek. A little slippery, but everyone made it across. There was one tricky log across the trail. It was right next to a very sharp dropoff. Smaller hikers were able to squeeze underneath it. We reported it to a ranger.
The first day we hiked to Big Log camp and setup. Just one other tent in the camp when we arrived. Later, we hiked to Camp Pleasant, and met some rangers. The rangers said that were digging new holes and moving the privys on all the camps from Spike to Nine Stream.
The second day we hiked up to Flapjack Lakes. There were a few campers at the Lakes. It was overcast, and there was a cool breeze coming across the lake. We saw sever hikers going up to the Lakes when we hiked back down in the afternoon. There were quite a few mosquitos in camp that evening. There are bear wires at Big Log and Flapjack Lakes, but not at Camp Pleasant.
We hiked back to the trailhead on the third day. The parking lot at Staircase was packed.
